We found this philosophy compelling enough to build our retirement portfolio around the concepts. I've had a bias towards index investing for a long time, and the diversification evidence in this book convinced us to structure in a similar way. Interesting meritorious allocation concept. I couldn't find any fault with it.
I think Craig Israelsen's 7Twelve strategy is simply the best foundation for the long-term moderate investor.
Investing is not easy and can be complex as marketed by the investment industry. This book offers the reader a well thought out disciplined approach to long-term investing. It demonstrates by example, how an individual can successfully assemble a portfolio of diversified/asset allocated equity assets that supports long-term investment and a retirement funding strategy. Excellent!
It's OK. Could have been described with half the words.
Seems like a good portfolio plan, backdated with lots of charts, easy to understand. The author restates what is evident on each chart. Can't be too thorough, though when dealing with people planning their financial futures.
The diversified investment portfolio and plan presented in this book is compelling and makes perfect sense for all or part of a long-term investor's portfolio. The plan is outlined in a YouTube video at [...] but the book gives much more detail and is an excellent reference tool.
I liked this book and the overall concept so much that I am using it with my investments. I guess you can find the major principles on-line without buying the book, but the fact that I read it should allow me to better handle the twists and turns of the market without second guessing myself. The overall concept is simple. The book presents a very diversified approach to investing. Thus you won't maximize returns in a bull market but you also won't lose everything in a bear market. The investment suggestions are all low costs funds that are available on any investment site. Nothing too radical or crazy here, just sound advice.
